Become a Guardian
You already do the hard part. Come belong somewhere that understands it.
Guardians of the Cats is a community for the people who keep showing up — feeding, fostering, rescuing, trapping, healing, protecting, grieving, and beginning again. Becoming a Guardian simply gives you a place inside that community.
Belonging, not a title
There is no test for caring enough.
You don't need a rescue organization, a nonprofit, a sanctuary, or a certain number of cats.
You might feed one cat behind your apartment building.
You might care for a colony every night.
You might foster kittens, transport cats to appointments, trap for TNR, run a sanctuary, or simply be the person who stops when everyone else keeps driving.
If you care for cats who need someone, there is room for you here.
Becoming a Guardian does not require you to declare your caregiving a religious practice or make a formal ministry commitment. Guardians of every faith — and caregivers who follow no named faith — are welcome.
The Guardian's promise
The spirit we try to carry
The Guardian's Promise isn't something you have to sign or prove. It is simply a reflection of the compassion that brought many of us here — a reminder of how we hope to care for the cats, for one another, and for ourselves.
- I will feed the ones no one else feeds.
- I will not turn away because it is inconvenient, cold, or late.
- I will treat every life I encounter as worthy of dignity.
- I will care for myself, so I can keep caring for them.
- I will speak gently to other caregivers, including myself.
Your Guardian account
A place to take part
Much of Guardians of the Cats is open for anyone to read, listen to, and explore. A Guardian account gives you a way to participate.
Prayer & Prayer Wall
Ask for prayer, hold another caregiver in yours, and know that difficult nights don't have to be carried privately.

A formal ministry commitment
Commissioned Guardians
Some caregivers choose to formally carry their caregiving as spiritual service within Guardians of the Cats. Commissioning is optional and separate from becoming a Guardian.
It establishes a formal relationship with the ministry and includes a permanent Commission Number, ministry standards, official correspondence and documentation tools, and Commission materials.
